Barcelona It is a cosmopolitan, modern and chic city. In recent years they have proliferated cute cakes and cafes and we have imported the brunch. However, long before the arrival of all those fashionable anglicisms, the traditional ones already existed fork breakfasts and last weekend we wanted to claim this breakfast traditional catalan.

Sunday morning we wake up at a good time to go to the natural park of Collserola and taste a traditional fork breakfast in a very typical restaurant-farmhouse. In addition, this farmhouse is only a few meters from one of the marked trails that run along the Collserola mountain, so we had a complete sea plan for that morning.

Fork breakfast menu in Can Cortés

The farmhouse Can Cortés It is located on the road of the Arrabassada and, in addition to lunch and dinner menus traditional catalan cuisine, the weekends offers a fork breakfast menu I had wanted to try for a long time.

Bread with tomato and sausage: the best way to start the day.

We left the car in the parking lot and saw that in the restaurant there were more than 20 cyclists with the MTBs parked outside, recovering strength with a big breakfast. The menu begins with a table of traditional sausages: fuet, black bull, Catalan and white sausage, accompanied by a large toasted peasant bread with tomato, garlic, oil and salt. With the second dish you can choose: sausage with white beans, tortilla to taste, corns, pork feet, fried eggs with bacon or sauteed sausage with mushrooms. Xavi asked for the last option and I opted for a mushroom omelette with salad.

Sauteed sausage with mushrooms is very tasty.

So it is a pleasure to start on Sunday, but with everything we had eaten, we really wanted to go for a walk on the mountain and burn it a bit. One of the advantages of Barcelona is that there is a beach and mountains in the same city. However, we often only live facing the sea and forget about the green lung that we have uphill.

Leaving the restaurant, follow this street up to find the C10 trail.

He natural park of Collserola It is a protected area that extends almost 8000 hectares along the mountains that serves as a background to the landscape of Barcelona. The park has a spectacular Mediterranean flora and a protected fauna, with many copies of wild boars and wild rabbits hidden in the shadows. In addition, it has several designated routes of varying degrees of difficulty and extension, but usually they are all very accessible. Very close to the restaurant passes the C10 trail, also known as: "the lilac one". It is the longest marked route, since it travels about six kilometers, and only has a certain stretch of difficulty.
